Denis Pennel, Managing Director, World Employment Confederation
Based on his long term experience in the field of labour and industrial relations, Denis Pennel is an expert of labour market at European and global level. Denis Pennel was appointed as Managing Director of Ciett in April 2005. In his role, he is in charge of executing the day-to-day activities of the Confederation and promoting the interests of the private employment services industry before international institutions, such as the European Union (EU), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the World Bank or the OECD.
As former Corporate Communications Director of Manpower France (1998-2005), Denis Pennel brings to Ciett broad knowledge and experience in the private employment agency sector. Born in 1966, he graduated from the French Institute of Political Studies (“Sciences Po Paris”) and subsequently started his career in Paris in 1989 within the Communication Group BDDP/TBWA as PR Manager. In 1991, he moved to London to work as a consultant for Financial Dynamics, one of the largest specialist communications consultancies in the UK. In 1993, he came back to Paris to join the accounting and consulting firm Deloitte, as Head of Information and was recruited five years later by Manpower France.
John Nurthen, Executive Director of Global Research, Staffing Industry Analysts
John Nurthen is responsible for the delivery of Staffing Industry Analysts' research content across the company’s three regions (North America, Europe and Rest of World). He has 20 years' experience in the staffing industry having previously worked in a variety of senior managerial roles for three of the world's largest staffing companies: Select Appointments, Vedior and Randstad. During this time, he played an active role in a series of major equity offerings and mergers.
Nurthen was a founder of the International Review of Employment which was published in four languages and also founded DOVA, which continues to be one of the largest global databases of online vacancies. Nurthen played a leading role in the development of common data standards with the creation of HR-XML SIDES in collaboration with other major staffing companies. He has held responsibility for internal and external communications (including investor relations and public affairs), e-Business, technology matters, marketing, research, procurement, and corporate social responsibility.
Nurthen's experience makes him an authority on global recruitment and contingent workforce issues covering all sectors of the market.

Dinette Koolhaas, Vice President and Operations Leader EMEA
As a committed Vice President and Head of EMEA Operations, Dinette Koolhaas is the driving force behind strengthening Kelly’s position and competitiveness in the marketplace. Her experience as an international leader, working effectively with multicultural teams, enables her to continuously execute a highly successful growth strategy with impressive results for the business.
Fluent in English, German, Dutch and French and with an MBA from the Business School of Netherlands, Dinette first worked as a consultant at a logistic consultancy agency in Holland. But it was in 1997, when she moved to USG People as a Sales Executive, where her career in staffing really began. Within the USG Group, Dinette was fundamental in the acquisition and integration of the European brand, Secretary Plus, after appointed General Manager of the first largest specialist niche brands – Unique, and last as Regional GM at Start People executive LT.
In June 2008 - equipped with a wealth of management experience - Dinette then joined Kelly as Regional General Manager of Western Europe, where she was dedicated to leading a team of Country General Managers across a total of eight separate countries across the region to form a unified regional team. Within this role, Dinette was instrumental in designing strategies for Specialization & Verticalization, Life Science and Perm FEE business.
Today, she provides strategic direction for the whole of the EMEA region, leading a team of Group Leaders and General Managers across 15 different countries. Her focus remains in Life Science, Perm FEE & Project recruitment as well as BPO. Dinette is also an executive sponsor for Large Global and Regional Accounts in EMEA and is an active corporate board member of the World Employment Confederation in Brussels.
During her career, Dinette has remained fully focused on operations and delivering outstanding growth, which has resulted in her inclusion on the “Women Worth Watching” list of Profiles in Diversity Magazine in 2016. Her enthusiasm for business growth and strategy makes her a passionate supporter of new and innovative projects.
