Recruitment company expands in Africa.
A Moroccan subsidiary opened by Michael Page International plc has made it the first major recruitment consultancy to have a direct presence in Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa. Based in Casablanca the office has been created in response to demand within the region and the objective of the company to offer wider recruitment services.
“This is a logical step for Michael Page International that reflects our development strategy in emerging countries,” said Managing Director of Michel Page Africa, Paul Mercier. “With a steady annual growth close to 5 per cent, the Moroccan economy is gathering momentum and companies need to reinforce their executive team as well as their middle management.”
The company have noticed an increase in assignments from this region with both local companies and international organisations seeking to deliver quality and consistency in their recruitment functions. The time has come, said Mercier for a permanent team to be placed in the area.
“In 2011, we experienced strong growth of 22 per cent from our operations on the African continent,” he notes. “Our success in this region is the result of Michael Page International’s 35 years of experience, established global leadership, and capability to take advanced positions in emerging markets.”
In Africa, Page has delivered recruitment solutions for managers and executives for more than six years. The new office will bring the total number of consultants working from Johannesburg, Casablanca and Paris up to 40. In addition to Morocco and South Africa, the company have placed candidates in 35 of the 54 African countries.
