Larsen Howie, the specialist provider of insurance and IR35 advice to contractors, freelancers and consultants have appointed Andy Vessey as head of tax, with effect from 28th January 2019.
Andy is widely recognised as one of the UK’s foremost IR35 experts, having personally defended more than 500 IR35 cases, the overwhelming majority of which he has won. Most recently, for example, Andy successfully represented Jensal Software Ltd at the First-tier Tax Tribunal in their highly publicised IR35 appeal.
Andy has 38 years of tax experience and specialises in employment status matters. He has been involved with IR35 since its introduction in 2000. Andy started his tax life at the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) before going on to work for various sized accountancy practices and even running his own practice, V-Tax Consulting. In 1993, Andy qualified with the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT). His long association with Qdos saw him eventually appointed as Head of Tax at Qdos Contractor.
Commenting on Andy’s appointment, Pete Willcocks, managing director of Larsen Howie said: “Andy is one of the leading players in the tax and IR35 market, with an unparalleled track record of success in defending IR35 cases and advising contractors and agencies on their IR35 needs. His appointment is a powerful endorsement of Larsen Howie’s continued emergence in the provision of insurance and IR35 advice to contractors, freelancers and agencies. We are delighted to welcome Andy to the team and look forward to him starting in the new year.”
