Not only is 4th July Election Day, it’s also the pinkest and wackiest golf day in the UK. We wanted to find recruitment’s craziest golf day and we now have a clear leader in the polls!
Every year, BondMoran, a recruitment business who specialise in senior finance appointments, turn the stunning Essendon Golf and Country Club pink in aid of Breast Cancer Now.
With day-glo pink sand in bunkers, a mariachi band hiding by a tee playing ‘the bandito’ song with golfers donning moustaches and sombreros (pink tequila shots are optional!), an ice cream vans serving pink ice cream in pink cones with the players own faces on them, “Pink Flamingo” pop-up cocktail bar serving pink cocktails and a flash crowd cheering on unsuspecting golfers and celebrating successful putts.
Add to this a trick shot show from an internationally acclaimed golfer, DJs, a dunk tank, helpers running across fairways in giant animal costumes or jumping out of bushes in camouflage outfits.
If that’s not enough, there’s a floating green (which is actually pink!), a candy floss stand, pink flags in pink holes on the greens, a ‘Happy Gilmore’ competition wearing the famous ice hockey top, greens protected by a variety of unexpected challenges and that’s just the tip of the very pink iceberg with lots more silliness around the course….always on a pink theme!
With support from Aston Martin Hatfield and other fantastic brands, they still have the hole-in-one competitions for cars and holidays, ensuring that there’s a competitive element to the fun.
Guests are welcomed by a pink carpet and the traditional ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘long drive’ flags are replaced with personalised bobble heads for each player, leaving loads of ‘mini players’ around the course!
They have a BBQ whilst their MD does a magic show (in a pink suit of course!) and the most prestigious prize is the winner’s coveted pink jacket, signed by previous winners.
Although the day is complimentary, the players who have to wear pink, always ‘dig deep’ for the charity, and it’s become a particularly unusual and bright highlight of the local golfing calendar.
If you’re interested in joining this event or you can help BondMoran to make their day even better, please let us know and remember to ‘vote pink’! To contact Lawrence Bond and support Breast Cancer Now click here.
