Castle Employment Group Marks 60 Years

Castle Employment Group is celebrating its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of supporting employers, candidates and communities across Yorkshire while continuing to invest in its future growth.

Founded in Scarborough in 1966 by Hannah Levy, the business has grown into one of Yorkshire’s most established independent recruitment and people solutions organisations. Despite its regional expansion, Castle remains proudly headquartered in Scarborough, where it was originally established.

A defining feature of Castle’s journey has been its strong female leadership. Since its inception, the business has had four female owners, each playing a significant role in shaping its direction, driving growth and evolving its service offering in line with changing market demands.

Today, Castle employs a team of more than 40 people and operates across four specialist areas: recruitment, education staffing, HR consultancy and training, and accountancy practice recruitment. This diversified model has enabled the business to support organisations with increasingly integrated workforce solutions.

As part of its continued growth strategy, Castle has made a series of strategic appointments across its Castle HR & Training Solutions team, strengthening its capability to support employers with outsourced HR, consultancy and training services. The expansion reflects rising demand from UK businesses for expert guidance amid ongoing changes in employment legislation, workforce expectations and compliance requirements.

“Reaching 60 years in business is a significant milestone and one that reflects the strength of the relationships we have built over time, as well as our ability to adapt and grow,” said Managing Director Kerry Hope. “Our recent strategic hires, particularly within our HR Solutions team, are a key part of our long-term vision. Employers are increasingly looking for joined-up, expert support across the full employee lifecycle, and we are continuing to invest to ensure we can meet that need.

“As the recruitment and HR landscape evolves, our focus remains on delivering a high-quality, partnership-led service that adds real value to our clients,” she added.

To mark the milestone, Castle recently celebrated with clients, partners and colleagues at the iconic Stephen Joseph Theatre, reflecting both its heritage and its continued presence in the region.

Over the past six decades, Castle has supported thousands of individuals into employment and partnered with organisations across Yorkshire to help them attract, retain and develop talent. Its continued evolution combines strong local relationships with modern recruitment methods, sector expertise and people-focused consultancy.

Looking ahead, Castle Employment Group remains focused on further growth through investment in its people, specialist services and client partnerships, positioning the business to support employers in an increasingly complex and competitive UK labour market.
