Logistics recruitment and distribution company, Challenge-trg Group is offering English lessons to its non-native speaking drivers and warehouse staff in a bid to meet the needs of its ever-growing and culturally diverse team. The training is being offered by Phoenix Training Services, which was acquired by Challenge-trg Group earlier this year, as the company continues to grow and diversify its offering in order to upskill its staff and provide effective logistic solutions for its clients.
“We are proud to announce that we are offering English language courses to our non-native speakers, provided by Phoenix Training Services,” said Richard Cropper, group COO of Challenge-trg Group. “We are passionate about equipping our workers with new skills, which improves the communication both within our business and with our clients. By upskilling our workforce, we can develop a more robust workforce, ultimately providing our clients with a higher quality of temporary workers. We have already started to see a positive impact within our client services and there has been a noticeable improvement with communication from our drivers.”
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualification is aimed at those who would like to improve their English speaking, writing, reading and listening, and is delivered in weekly 90-minute sessions over the course of 13 weeks. As well as improving their language skills, course participants can expect to increase their confidence and customer service skills.
Simon Bladon, operations director at Phoenix Training Services, said: “We pride ourselves on providing extensive training that meets the needs of our learners, partners and clients.
“We’ve had great feedback so far from the course participants, who have said that it has improved their confidence as well as taught them new language skills and strategies to support them in the workplace,” he added.
As well as offering functional skills and LGV qualifications, Phoenix offers training in administration, customer service, e-learning, forklift truck driving, security and warehouse management.
Following the acquisition by Challenge-trg Group, it will expand its classroom and e-learning proposition to include driver training, warehousing and manual handling, as well as first aid, through its Warehouse to Wheels programme.
