Cross Atlantic Hiring

Data from Indeed has recorded that the number of US-based professionals clicking on UK job ads hit a near two year high in Q1 2025. However, platform data from Deep suggests businesses are hiring at a much faster rate out of the US as well.

The new platform data from Deel reveals that the rate of US workers being hired by UK companies has risen 11.5 per cent in 2025 so far (Jan-April), a fourfold increase compared to the 2.8 per cent growth over the same period last year.

The data shows the sectors hiring the most from the US are IT and financial services – suggesting that UK businesses are looking to international talent to fill critical skills gaps, particularly the much reported shortages in AI and accounting talent.

It’s a similar story when looking across Europe, where US hires rose 16.4 per cent since the turn of the year (compared to 3 per cent last year). Within LATAM (2025: 5.4 per cent | 2024: 0 per cent) and APAC (2025: 6.5 per cent | 2024: 2.6 per cent), smaller but notable upticks can also be seen.

“We’re seeing a clear surge in demand for US talent across the UK and Europe, particularly in sectors like AI and financial services where local skill gaps are well known,” commented Nick Catino, Head of Global Policy, Deel. “With today’s global tools, it’s never been easier for businesses to hire internationally and for workers to access meaningful opportunities across borders. Companies that embrace this shift will be better positioned to fill critical roles and stay competitive.”
