Cordant broadens focus on built environment with managing consultant appointment.

Cordant Engineering has further strengthened its senior team with the appointment of Mike Tobin as managing consultant. This move forms part of the company’s wider strategy to broaden its footprint across the built environment. The organisation has taken the decision to expand its offering within the built environment in order to provide its clients with a comprehensive service covering all engineering disciplines. Moving forward, its portfolio of recruitment solutions will now cover: structural, development infrastructure (civils), highways, geo-environmental, geotechnical, mechanical & electrical (M&E), PQS (quantity surveyors & project managers), building control, fire engineering and flood risk.

Mike joins Cordant Engineering from Vertical Recruitment, where he held the role of senior consultant. He previously served as managing consultant at Calibre Search and also worked at Direct Line Group. He has more than five years experience working directly in engineering consultancy recruitment, handling both permanent and contract vacancies. Mike specialises in structures, development infrastructure and flood risk, and he has impressed clients with his technical knowledge, subject matter expertise, candidate relationships, and personal approach.

Kelly Kendall, managing director of Cordant Engineering, said: “Our objective is to grow this department into one of the most successful divisions across the Cordant Group and broadening the solutions we provide to the built environment will help to facilitate that.

“Mike has successfully grown businesses, and recruited and led teams across the UK, building strong relationships and partnering with consultancies, from SMEs to International developers and contractors. He will be an extremely valuable asset to the team.”

Mike Tobin added: “I joined Cordant Engineering because of the company’s reputation and its infrastructure to reach out to all the relevant sectors across the country. The fact that Cordant Group is a Social Business was also a key selling point for me. I am excited to have the opportunity to build and lead a new revenue stream for the business.”
