Firefish Software is celebrating ten years on the recruitment SaaS market and has appointed Chris Varley (previously of Hymans Robertson and Gael ltd.) as their new chief technology officer. They have welcomed him to the company’s Board of Directors, joining Firefish CEO and founder, Wendy McDougall, co-founder Andrew MacKay, associate director Louise Cunningham, and Kai Murray (previously director and CEO of Search Consultancy).
Chris is bringing 20 years’ experience in senior strategic technical roles to Firefish, including ten years leading the development of SaaS products. He is tasked with pushing the company to its next growth phase as one of Scotland’s fastest-growing Software as a Service Businesses.
In addition to this new hire, the Glasgow-based company is also announcing their first official step south of the border with the hiring of two London-based salespeople. Matt Jelley and Jo Bradford, both previously of Bond Adapt, joined Firefish following the recent acquisition of Bond Adapt by Bullhorn.
“Ten years ago, I was a frustrated recruiter with a vision that there had to be a way that technology could make recruitment more efficient, and I could see that the industry badly needed to innovate to survive,” explains Firefish Software CEO, Wendy McDougall. “When I look back now, it’s amazing to think how far we’ve come since then as a business and as an industry too.
“The new hires we’ve made – both in Glasgow and our first hires in London – mark a massive step forward in the Firefish journey and I can’t wait to see where the next decade takes us.”
Chris Varley commented: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Firefish shoal! Having seen Wendy and the team grow the business over the last 10 years, I’ve been really impressed – not only by their track record of growth, but also by a world-class product that’s been achieved through relentless focus on great customer experience.
“This is an exciting time to join the company, as Firefish currently sits in a unique position with a strong brand, an eagerness and readiness to scale up, and – most importantly – a really great, highly-motivated team,” he added. “It’s a unique privilege to be given this tremendous opportunity to take these assets and help build the Firefish of the future. I personally can’t wait to see what innovations we deliver to our clients over the course of the next 10 years!”
