Leading UK recruiter buys in Australia.

Acorn, a major recruiter in the UK, has made an acquisition to support its continuing growth in Australia. The business which has nearly 40 branches across the UK, has acquired Entire Recruitment and will take over all its assets, including three branches in Sydney, Brisbane and Rock Hampton, the agency’s team of over 20 staff and all of their current contracts. The acquisition has been made through Acorn’s subsidiary recruitment business in Australia, Synaco.

Entire, which currently turns over circa AUS$40 million annually, will continue to operate under its existing brand for the immediate future but in time will be incorporated fully within the Synaco brand.

Synaco works with a wide number of industries, filling both blue and white-collar roles, with Australian recruits whilst also continuing to work closely with businesses to attract and recruit staff from overseas via Acorn in the UK and its wider global operations.

With the acquisition, Acorn’s presence in Australia will be placing a workforce of over 1,000 temporary employees daily as well as a growing number of permanent placements across a range of industries, and in 2019 its revenues will grow to approximately AUS$100 million. This will bring Acorn’s combined UK and global turnover to circa £180 million in 2019 and placing over 7,000 people daily into work across the UK, Ireland and Australia.

Group managing director of Acorn Recruitment, Matt Southall said; “This is another significant milestone in the development of Acorn and the growth of our global operations.

“Led by our managing director in Australia, Mike Otty, the team in has made superb progress in only a few years. They have grown the business organically during this time, and it’s to their tremendous credit that an established operator like Entire has put its faith in them directly and in us across the wider Acorn group, to join us in this way.

“Make no mistake,” he added, “this is a significant move in the Australian recruitment industry and we’re looking forward to an impressive 2019 and more exciting times to come.”

Entire, founded in 2010, provides intelligent recruitment solutions that boost productivity; supercharging business performance within an evolving world of work. At the very heart of their business and decision-making, they are known for challenging the status quo, and always looking to place people in jobs that suit their career objectives and cultural fit; providing harmonious successful matches for both employers and their staff.

Kevin Amedee, co-founder and director of Entire, also commented: “Working closely with Acorn to bring Synaco and Entire together provides a major growth opportunity for both our businesses through an extended service offering for our clients. As organisations begin their transition to a temporary staff and permanent recruitment solution, we know we are positioned exceptionally well to support them on that journey”.

Synaco Global Recruitment was set up by Acorn in Australia in 2012 in response to the increasing demand for international recruitment for various mining companies. Following the success of this venture, Acorn identified an opportunity for local recruitment services and as a result, has grown into three states and territories.

As well as its new offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Rock Hampton, Acorn also has bases in Adelaide, Perth, Geraldton and Darwin.
