Rest Less, the online resource for money, jobs and lifestyle for the over 50s has announced the launch of a new consultancy service targeted at organisations who want to learn more about the advantages of age diversity and how to recruit, engage and retain multigenerational teams.
Recognising that in the decade before the pandemic, nearly 80 per cent of the UKs employment growth had come from workers over the age of 50, and yet most employers’ diversity and inclusion policies don’t even consider age – despite it being both a protected characteristic and home to a significant amount of incremental talent amidst a chronically tight labour market.
Rest Less’s consultancy service will provide businesses with bespoke guidance on how to incorporate age inclusivity into their diversity and inclusion policies as well as recommendations on how to harness the benefits offered by multigenerational teams. Rest Less’s consultancy service provides advice on internal and external communications around age diversity, training for managers, analysis of hiring and retention processes as well as recommendations on how to become a fully age inclusive employer. This includes offering guidance on much needed workplace policies around the menopause and caring leave. The service also provides insights and data on the needs, experiences and nuances of this growing demographic, which will better equip employers with the information they need to make themselves an attractive employer for talent of all ages. The service will be headed up by Andy Collings, general manager of Rest Less’s Careers, Learning & Insight team who joined the business in 2021.
Rest Less was set up in 2019 as an advocate and a digital community on a mission to help people in their 50s, 60s and beyond to live their lives to the fullest. Its core focus is on work and careers with a jobs board hosting more than 50,000 jobs from age diverse employers, a course marketplace with more than 70,000 free and paid for courses and a dedicated and up to date volunteering section. During the pandemic it has also expanded to offer a broad range of content, guidance and services spanning Work and Careers but also health, mental health, money, lifestyle, relationships, care and more.
“We are all working for longer than the generations who have preceded us – whether for the social interaction and enjoyment of the job, or out of economic necessity to fund our retirement,” notes Andy Collings. “Rest Less’s new consultancy services complement our existing expertise in age inclusive recruitment and offer progressive organisations guidance on how best to harness the power of a multigenerational workforce in order to give them a competitive edge in the decades ahead.”
