Time management has always been a challenge in recruitment. The pace is relentless, the demands constant and there’s always one more call, one more candidate, one more LinkedIn notification to check.
But here’s the truth: most recruiters don’t have a time management problem they have a focus management problem.
One of the biggest drain? Screen time.
It’s easy to justify hours spent on LinkedIn or Instagram under the banner of “staying connected” or “doing research,” but if you check your phone’s screen-time stats, the numbers can be shocking. Even 30 minutes a day lost to mindless scrolling adds up to nearly three working weeks a year.
Practical tip:
This week, check your screen time.
Look honestly at how much time is going into apps that don’t move your desk forward.
Then ask yourself:
-
What could I do with just half of that time back?
-
How could I use it to deepen relationships, prep better calls or just breathe between meetings?
Small awareness shifts like this often create the biggest performance gains.
You don’t need a new system you just need to take back control of your attention.
If you have any questions after completing this exercise, I’d love to hear from you.
