Jason Trevethick, chair of the directors of APSCo Australia announced today that after reaching her 20 year milestone in representing the recruitment and staffing sector, Julie Mills has decided to step down from the role as managing director of APSCo Australia and also as a director of APSCo Global.
Julie’s contribution to the Australian recruitment sector is immense, having led RCSA as CEO for 10 years before joining ITCRA as business manager and CEO in 2010. As CEO of ITCRA, which was formed to support the ICT sector. Julie has also been an active member for many organisations such as Deakin University’s Chancellors Round Table, the Queensland Government’s ICT Advisory Group and The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland QAssure Steering Committee as well as a non-executive director on several boards including ITSuper.
In 2016, as CEO of ITCRA, Julie was integral in the transition to become part of the APSCo brand. APSCo Australia was officially registered as part of APSCo Global in late 2016 with the election of a board of directors and two seats on the board at APSCo Global, driving global initiatives and delivering on local market trends. During her time as APSCo Australia’s managing director, Julie has been instrumental in lobbying on behalf of the sector. She has kept audiences informed and compliant by way of blog entries and weekly webinars that break down the technical messages to deliver the key points that affect Member companies in a language that is easy to digest and takes the effort out of staying up to date.
“It has been an exciting twenty years,” said Julie Mills, “and none of it would have been possible without the strong directors, committees, sponsors, affiliates and committed members who have informed the agenda and been at the forefront of informing Government policy, regulatory changes and raising the profile of a sector that delivers so much potential for the modern workforce.
Following Julie’s notification to the board of her intent to step down, the APSCo Australia directors have completed a rigorous search and selection process to appoint a new managing director to carry on the Association’s great work in strengthening the sector. As a result, Lesley Horsburgh has been appointed as the new managing director and will commence in the role on November 25th 2019.
Lesley has had a long relationship with the global recruitment sector dating back to her capacity as owner of Recruitment Extra magazine which was founded over 20 years ago. Lesley is well respected as having an incredible knowledge of the recruitment sector, maintaining a reputation for being at the forefront of current issues through her management of multiple publications relating to the sector and as founder of the Recruitment Excellence Awards (REA’s) in 2008. Lesley’s renowned strengths including driving growth initiatives, sales strategies and product development across a range of legal and staffing organisations and activities, are sure to see some new ideas come into the APSCo Australia fold which will further enhance the incredible network that Julie has built in supporting Members to unlock the potential in the modern workforce.
