Davidson is appointing well-known veteran of executive recruitment, Mark Sloan to their growing Executive & Boards team as the general manager of NSW. Appointed this month, Sloan has more than 13 years’ experience in the Australian recruitment sector, eight of those in the Executive search space. Irish-born Mark brings a wealth of experience across Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney. Before moving to Australia, Mark worked across several divisions with Dell Computers in Ireland.
Prior to Davidson, Mark was a partner with Watermark Search International and an associate director with Oceans Group Search to name a few.
“I am proud of the work we do in recruitment in changing people’s lives for the better, by moving people into the right jobs,” he said. “I have had the privilege of working with some candidates to change their career projection two or three times over the space of a number of years and this has helped them to achieve their goals.
“I’ve had people’s spouses call me up and thank me for helping their husband or wife find the right job for them. That is very satisfying.”
Mark said the move to Davidson was a natural fit for him and he has big plans. “When I was interviewed for this role with Davidson, my instincts about the business and the people felt good,” Mark said. “They presented me with a clear vision for the business and for the role that I was able to buy into and with such a clear alignment in our philosophies around people-centred service, I knew we were a good match.
“I also love a challenge and feel I have that in continuing to grow and improve Davidson’s footprint in NSW. Davidson has shown a willingness to invest in innovation and ways to add value to clients and provide them with market-leading knowledge and I am looking forward to being a part of that.”
Mark said part of what drove him to work in the executive space was his fascination with how motivated candidates working in this sector are.
“They really are incredibly motivated by what they do, but everyone is different and so are their motivators, their drivers,” he said. “I like to see what pushes people’s buttons and understand them. That motivates me.”
Clare McCartin, group general manager of Davidson Executive & Boards welcomed Mark to the team: “Mark has been in executive search in Australia for 13 years and has worked with some incredibly talented leaders within our industry who all commend him for his work ethic and attitude,” she said.
“We are fortunate to have that experience now working for our valued clients and candidates,’ she added. “Mark is a natural leader, he is incredibly people focused, and consequently, we have some of the best and brightest lining up to be part of his rapidly growing team.”
“With his experience in the executive space, his knowledge and networks within the sector and his drive to ensure gender diversity continues to a topic of discussion until it no longer needs to be, Mark will fit in well with the culture at Davidson.”
