VCMO Launches FindaFractional

VCMO has launched FindaFractional, a dedicated recruitment and matching platform built to streamline how UK organisations source, assess and engage proven fractional leaders. The announcement aligns with new independent research from VCMO showing that the UK’s expanding fractional leadership market remains difficult to navigate, with talent discovery still dominated by informal channels.

The study, The State of Fractional Leadership in the UK (2026), draws on insights from 180 UK-based senior fractional leaders, revealing significant structural gaps in how businesses currently identify and recruit fractional expertise. Despite rapid market growth, the report shows the sector relies heavily on personal relationships rather than existing recruitment mechanisms:

  • 4 per cent secure work primarily through personal networks
  • 4 per cent rely on referrals
  • Only 15.6 per cent cite content or personal brand as a driver of work
  • Just 12.2 per cent report receiving direct inbound enquiries

This network-led model is also placing pressure on senior operators, diverting time away from delivery into business development. The data shows:

  • 9 per cent lack confidence in generating a consistent pipeline
  • 3 per cent spend 10+ hours per month on business development
  • 0 per cent spend 20+ hours per month
  • Only 12.8 per cent describe their business development approach as predictable and structured

Despite the strong supply of experienced leaders, the research highlights a recruitment environment where visibility and matching remain inconsistent. 98.3 per cent of respondents believe improved discovery mechanisms would add meaningful value, with 67.8 per cent rating vetted, warm, high-fit introductions as very or extremely valuable.

“Fractional leadership has become a vital route for UK organisations to access senior capability, but the market is still too fragmented,” said Paul Mills, Managing Director and Founder of VCMO. “Executives are spending too much time winning work, and businesses are spending too long searching for the right leadership fit. FindaFractional has been built to close that gap — making senior fractional recruitment faster, clearer and more reliable.”

VCMO are set to publish the whitepaper as a standalone market report, with FindaFractional launching simultaneously as a new service designed to bring structure, transparency and efficiency to the UK’s fractional recruitment landscape.
