Acorn Recruitment, one of the UK’s leading specialist recruitment firms, has completed its second merger and acquisition within two years in Australia through its subsidiary business Synaco Global Recruitment.
The new partnership sees Synaco join forces with the conveniently-named Australian-based ‘Acorn Human Resources’ to enhance the provision of their combined talent acquisition and recruitment solutions to Western Australia’s burgeoning mining and resources sector.
The merger is part of UK’s Acorn and its Australian arm Synaco’s national growth strategy and is in response to the needs of clients in the Kalgoorlie and surrounding Goldfields region, where Acorn Human Resources has also been servicing the industry’s needs since 2009.
Together Synaco and Acorn HR will be even better placed, with their combined talent acquisition and recruitment solution, to support Western Australia’s booming mining and resources sector, which currently employs more than 124,000 people and is set to contribute an estimated £108 billion to the economy moving forward. It will also mean great new job opportunities for candidates, their current employees, and exciting recruitment support for clients.
The merger will see Acorn HR founder Roger Edwards continue as director working alongside Synaco managing director Mike Otty.
“Synaco’s continued growth is underpinned by an unwavering commitment to the service values on which the company was founded,” Otty said. “The merger with Acorn HR adds another dimension by creating a unique and complete solutions approach to servicing communities in Western Australia. It supports our shared plans to meet the evolving demand for an authentic experience on a broader scale across all States and Territories. Our vision of bringing people and purpose together is at the heart of everything we do.”
Mr Edwards said: “Synaco’s merging with Acorn HR provides a major growth opportunity for our business. As Synaco looks to the future with their temporary staff and permanent recruitment solution, we will be best positioned to support them on that journey.”
“This is another important milestone in the development of Acorn and the growth of our global operations,” said Group managing director of Acorn Recruitment, Matt Southall. “Make no mistake, this is another significant move in the Australian recruitment industry and we’re looking forward to an impressive 2020 and more exciting times to come.”
Synaco works with a wide number of industries, filling both blue and white-collar roles with Australian recruits whilst also continuing to work closely with businesses to attract and recruit staff from overseas via Acorn in the UK and its wider global operations. Synaco Global Recruitment was set up by Acorn in Australia in 2012 in response to the increasing demand for international recruitment for various mining companies. Following the success of this venture, Acorn identified an opportunity for local recruitment services and as a result, has grown into three states and territories.
Through its Synaco subsidiary, Acorn now places a workforce of over 1,000 temporary employees daily in Australia, as well as a growing number of permanent placements across a range of industries, bringing its revenues to in excess of approximately AUS$100 million. This brings Acorn’s combined UK and global turnover to circa £180million and sees it placing over 7,000 people daily into work across the UK, Ireland and Australia.
