Predicted jobs growth leads to Hays expansion in South West region.

Responding to expected jobs growth in the Peel and South West region for qualified, professional and skilled people, Hays has opened an office in Bunbury. The company are set to use this base to recruit skilled professionals across corporate, technical and trades based roles in all of the region’s primary industries including construction, mining and agriculture and professional services.

David Irvine, business director of Hays in Bunbury, said opening a local office allows the business to better service its existing client base, which spans both the public and private sectors.

“We are investing in the South West as a vote of confidence in the local job market,” he said. “The South West region is buoyant with new projects driving job growth, particularly in the resurgent mining sector as well as in the construction, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, tourism and agricultural industries.

“By opening an office locally we’re closer to our clients and candidates and can better service them,” he said. Hays has been recruiting in the South West from its Perth office for over 20 years and has over 50 existing clients in the region.

Mark Seaward, CEO of the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), welcomed the opening of Hays in the region. “Hays visited Bunbury for the CEDA conference late last year and I met with them to discuss the opportunities in our region,” he said. “The Chamber congratulates Hays on their decision to invest in our region and thanks them for being an active member of the BGCCI. We wish them well.”

“On 1 November 2018, CEDA hosted the South West Economic Update conference,” said Paula Rogers, State Director WA of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA). “We are delighted that as a result of the event, and Hays’s own experience working in the region, they have now launched an office that employs three people in Bunbury – economic development at is best.”

“We have access to a national and international database of skilled candidates. We believe we can offer a superior service to attract the very best talent back to the Peel and South West region,” added David Irvine. “By opening in Bunbury, we’re demonstrating a commitment to the local market and a belief in its ongoing strength.”
